Representation

RIMS supports physicians in their efforts to serve patients, succeed in their medical practices, realize their professional potential and achieve their personal goals. RIMS can provide answers, identify resources, facilitate contacts, serve as a liaison with local health insurers or otherwise help individual physicians get prompt attention to a variety of problems.

Advocacy

Since 1812, advocacy has been one of the primary roles of the Rhode Island Medical Society. As the leader of medicine in the Ocean State, we are committed to represent the physician voice with local, state, and federal legislators, with state and federal health agencies, and also with the private sector healthcare companies. We value your membership and encourage you to participate in advocacy efforts as we represent you and your patients with a wide array of stakeholders.

Leadership Opportunities

Through its own structures as well as through its appointive authority to numerous boards, commissions, advisory panels and other bodies, RIMS offers many opportunities to lead and to serve the profession and the community locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.  RIMS also has opportunities for members to get involved in various committees.  Learn more here.

Members receive dedicated email alerts and a bi-weekly newsletter curated with critical information. RIMS also provides virtual and in person events periodically that bring together stakeholders and various experts to provide you with timely information important to Rhode Island physicians.
